Differentiate (v): to make or become different in the process of growth or development.
OUR STORY
It all started with an “aha” moment in university whilst studying Genetics when I learned about the concept of cell differentiation, where identical stem cells evolve into specialized cells with distinct functions. The process fascinated me, and the word stuck with me. I didn’t realize it at the time, but this process became a metaphor for my career: where, instead of cells, I’ve been cultivating people, projects, and businesses.
My career has spanned across outdoor education, formal teaching, management consulting, and organizational development. But no matter the role, I’ve always gravitated towards graduate development and capacity building. The journey led me back to university this time to pursue a Masters in Education, where my focus was on optimal curriculum and pedagogy particularly as it pertains to our unique South African landscape of mixed socio economic backgrounds.
Over the past 5 years I have had the privilege of working with a small group of specialists under the banner of Differentiate. Combined we have over 50 years of relevant educational experience in numerous industries, ranging from retail, financial services and pharmaceutical to hospitality and agriculture. Be it smaller NGOs or large corporate organizations, together we have coached, taught, cheered and challenged thousands of bright young minds into their future.
We are Proudly South African, and believe that well-designed learning programs have the power to transform businesses and so to our economy, especially when it comes to creating opportunities for both advantaged and disadvantaged school and university leavers.
